On Sunday 3rd July at 2:00pm 55,000 visitors came to Brighton beach to take part in the world’s biggest free beach and water sports festival; Paddle Round The Pier. A carpet of water sports crafts hit the water on mass; from canoes, kayaks and surfboards to amazingly creative DIY floats. Never ones to miss out on a challenge, our Brighton studio constructed an inflatable raft and successfully paddled round the pier in a not too shabby time of 17 minutes.
Well done guys!
The event began in 1996 when a small group of surfers, led by founder Dave Samuel, decided to surf around the pier to raise money for charity. This small event of 100 people evolved into the huge success it is today. This year the three charities were Surfers Against Sewage, RNLI and local children’s charity Amaze, with a fantastic £300,000.00 raised so far.
